Background | |
CD16, or FcγRⅢ, is a glycoprotein with a molecular weight of 50 000~70 000. It is a member of the Ig superfamily and is known to be involved in antibody-dependent cytotoxicity (ADCC) action. Its most significant feature is to trigger the lysis of target cells. As a low affinity receptor,CD16 can bind to the Fc ε association receptor I (FcεRI ) γ chain of CD3 ζ to participate in signal transduction. Cross-linked CD16 on NK cells directly leads to an increase of intracellular Ca2 + levels and a serial cascade of biochemical responses similar to the activation of T cell. According to the relevant literature, CD16 could mediate the direct killing of certain viral infected cells or tumor cells, which depends on the tight binding with antibodies. CD16 molecules are widely expressed in NK cells, neutrophilic polymorphonuclear leukocytes, mononuclear cells, and macrophages. CD16 monoclonal antibodies can activate NK cell and trigger antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxic effects. | |
