Activity

Determined by the dose-dependent stimulation of the proliferation of MCF-7 cells . The expected ED 50 for this effect is ≤ 10ng/ml.

Molecular Mass

The recombinant human IGF-1 protein consists of 308 amino acids and predicts a molecular mass of 34.6 kD.

Formulation

Lyophilized from sterile PBS, pH 7.4. Normally 6 % mannitol are added as protectants before lyophilization.

Stability & Storage

24 months at 2℃ to 8℃ in lyophilized state. 

6 months at -20℃ under sterile conditions after reconstitution.

12 months at -80℃ under sterile conditions after reconstitution.

Recommend to aliquot the protein into smaller quantities after reconstituting with water for injection, normal saline or PBS, and keep the diluted concentration above 100μg/mL.

Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Background

IGFS is a mitogenic peptide growth factor that can stimulate the proliferation and survival of various cells, including muscle, bone, and cartilage tissues. IGFS is mainly produced by the liver, although different tissues produce IGFS at different times. IGFS belongs to the insulin gene family and also contains insulin and relaxin. IGFS is similar in structure and function to insulin, but its growth promoting activity is significantly higher than insulin. The expression of IGF - II is influenced by placental prolactin, and the expression of IGF-I is regulated by growth hormone. IGF - I and IGF - II signals are transmitted through tyrosine kinase type I receptor (IGF-IR), while IGF - II can also be transmitted through IGF - II/mannose 6-phosphate receptor signaling. Mature IGFS is produced by protein hydrolysis of inactive precursor proteins containing N-terminal and C-terminal precursor regions.
