Background

HER 2, also known as ErbB 2, is one of the members of the human epidermal growth factor receptor family and has important signal transduction roles. Her-2 / neu protein-mediated signal transduction pathway mainly includes Ras / Raf / separin-activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathway, phosphatidylinositol 3 hydroxykinase (P13K) / Akt pathway, signal transduction and transcriptional activation (STAT) pathway and PLC pathway etc. Her-2 / neu protein is usually expressed only in fetuses at low levels within a very few tissues after adulthood. Her-2 / Neu expression was found in various human tumors, such as breast, ovarian, lung adenocarcinoma, primary renal cell carcinoma, and endometrial cancer. In gastric cancer cells, Her-2 / neu protein was mainly localized on cell membrane and was minimally expressed in the cytoplasm.
